1978 Jeep Cherokee Widetrack Chief Model 17
1978 Jeep Cherokee Widetrack
Catcher Bumper – Rhino grill
Basically, I went through everything mechanical. I did have some bigger jobs completed at Village Auto, Durango CO. Receipts total over $2000.
This is a very solid platform and well on it’s way for someone with more time than me to finish. I am losing money on this one.
The previous owner did all the filler and primer work. I touched up some of it. It needs someone to finish and this will be an awesome Cherokee. I’m not really a body guy. Mechanical:
Jeep/AMC Grand Wagoneer 360 – Engine rebuilt and cammed. When rebuilt was told it had 46k original miles
Jeep Grand Wagoneer Torqeflight 727 – Matched set with the engine. 46K original miles
Dana 300 twin-sticked transfer case from 1980 CJ. It is the short output shaft version. Very Rare. Part-time 4WD.
New -Edelbrock Performer manifold and 600cfm carb. Currently adjusted to 9000′. Manifold accepts a TBI conversion with no mod.
Brand New 3 core aluminum radiator and hoses
New Warn Locking Hubs
New Barrel Cylinder for the ignition switch in the steering column.
Various new steering components.
Relocated rear gas tank and custom skid plate. New fuel hoses.
4″ lift. Mixed 35″ tires. They wheel just fine, but you will want to eventually replace if your going to do a lot of everyday driving.
New Battery – Walmart brand, but new Exterior:
Originally Midnight Blue – that is a primer layer than you see covering it right now.
So, there is still a good amount of body work to be done.
The rear fenders have gotten fiber-glassed. Just need sanding before paint.
There is currently filler and primer on most panels. Basically sanding and a little more filler to be correct.
I have a Grand Cherokee no rust rear tailgate door with glass to be included.
Some dents in the roof and a couple on a panel.
The rear window motor and windshield wiper motors will need to be replaced. Interior:
Rhino Lined floor – Carpet could go in it if you want, but why?
Front Bench seat. No rear.
Dash is somewhat disassembled to replace wiring. All parts included.
Door and side panels good. Options include:
– Brand New Howell TBI injection(not installed) for additional $900 and I keep the Edelbrock carb.
– Pretty decent matching blue interior from a 77 4 door Cherokee for an additional $500 Title is clean and in hand
