1968 Jeep M-715 5/4 (1 ¼) ton military truck
You are looking at a 1968 M-715 5/4 (1 ¼) ton Jeep military truck. This truck has the 230 cubic inch Tornado overhead cam inline six cylinder engine with the four speed transmission. The truck runs good, and the clutch feels excellent. We were told that the mileage is correct at only 32,982. The ID number is: 22508, the title is clear.
This is a 12 volt truck, the fuel pump is 12 volt as well. The carburetor has just been rebuilt, we adjusted the valves, and changed the oil and filter and replaced the valve cover gaskets. New spark plugs and plug wires. We also changed the oil in the front and rear end housings. New master cylinder, all new wheel cylinders (not kits), and new brake shoes. We also serviced all the bearings and installed new seals. This Jeep has a new muffler, but will need a new tail pipe. The tires are 900×16, and will need to be replaced in the future.
All the glass is good, the windows roll up and down excellent. All the lights work, the wipers are manual. The heater works, the glove box is missing the door. The temperature and gas gauges aren’t working, the speedometer and oil pressure work (40 psi at idle).
This truck has a newly upholstered seat, not the original, but very comfortable. We just installed the brand new (original) canvas top. There is also a roll bar behind the seat (for safety). The only rust on this truck is in the bed, it is mostly surface rust from hauling around a water tank. The bed is still in excellent shape. No rust in the body or floor boards (as you can see in the pictures). There are some minor dents in the body. This Jeep has been painted a lighter green, and touched up from there, but still looks very presentable. It has the original spare and wheel underneath the bed.
This is a heavy duty truck. It runs and steers excellent, and starts up easy. These trucks are getting hard to find in this condition.
