The SJ series Jeep Cherokee is a full-size SUV that was produced from 1974 through 1983 by JEEP. It was similar to the Wagoneer that was originally designed by Brooks Stevens in 1963. In 1975, the Cherokee Chief package was introduced. Aside from trim changes, this model received larger fenders and wider axles, allowing larger tires to be fitted to further improve off-road ability. Four-door models were not available with “wide-track” axles.
The immaculate example here is truly awesome, both interior and exterior. The Jeep spent some time in Arkansas and Florida. It was the recipient of a frame on restoration. The engine received a rebuild on the top end, new brakes and new shocks. Vehicle was nicely restored in 2016 and only 1,200 miles added since. Recent overhaul of transmission work was just done for $2,300 and previous service work totaled about $2,400 in 2016. Finding a nice clean example of a Cherokee Chief in such incredible condition is nearly impossible. Performing the restoration that was done with this one would cost a small fortune let alone finding a nice starting vehicle. Factory options include: free-wheeling front hubs, power steering, power disc brakes, part-time 4×4, front stabilizer bar, 2 speed transfer case, folding rear seat, tinted glass, trailer towing package, power locks and windows, power tailgate window. To see more of the options on this truck see the picture of the original window sticker.
With the values of vintage SUV’s soaring higher, this Cherokee Chief will not let you down and will strike up conversation wherever you bring it. Vehicle comes with an original window sticker, two sets of keys, factory owners manual, and service receipts. The paint, leather, carpet, headliner, engine bay and cargo area are all in pristine condition and this is a great vehicle for any use you may have. Arrive in style next time you and the family go to cut down the Christmas tree, head to the beach or go out for some ice cream.
