2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4×4 Punisher Edition, not really there is no Punisher edition this is just something I did for fun. I did have a fun time at car shows asking people if they could find all the skulls in the vehicle. This is a great Jeep, I’m going after a new Bronco so it’s time to let my baby go.
The original build list I requested from Jeep says it has the following:
4.0 engine inline 6
4-speed automatic transmission
Dana 30 Front axle
Chrysler Corporate 8.25 rear axle
Command Trac Part-time 4WD
NP231 transfer case
It runs and drives great, with cold AC in the summer, and warm heat in the winter. I have never taken it off-road. I tested the 4-wheel drive when I bought it and haven’t used it since. All the upgrades I did are listed below:
I have receipts for the new items
New BF Goodrich all-terrain tires 31 x 10.50 x 15
3 inch lift
New Shocks
New front wheel bearings
New brakes front and rear
Window deflectors
Windshield visor
Custom built, by me roof rack
New power steering pump
Magnaflow muffler
All new u joints
Front receiver hitch for snow plow
Rebuilt driveshaft
Rugged Ridge step Bars
New trailer plug 7 pin
New o2 sensor
Tune up with new plugs
New rear main seal
New torque converter
Punisher decals and floor mats
Double-DIN Android stereo with wireless Android Auto, with steering wheel controls
Custom dash piece to allow the double DIN and keep a factory look
Amplifier
Subwoofer
Rough Country Cold air intake
Rough country throttle body spacer
A pillar grab handles
New drivers side power window motor
All new door hinge pins on the two front doors
Beautiful black and red seat covers, the original cloth seats underneath are in good condition with no tears.
Heated seat pads that plug into the expanded power socket for a toasty ride in the winter
The only cons are it’s going to need a new windshield soon and it has a small exhaust leak, its ticks a little before it warms up and the exhaust manifold expands. Before I bought it it had been hit in the rear and repaired therefore it does have a rebuilt/refurbished title.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I realized after listing this that the windshield visor will probably have to be removed to replace the windshield. I didn’t want to drill holes in the roof so I glued the visor on in three places. I will include a tool that they use to cut through windshield adhesive and I believe you may be able to use that to remove the visor. If the visor is damaged they sell them on eBay for $80, it would just need to be painted and glued back on.
Also when I ordered the Carfax when I bought the Jeep there was a discrepancy in the mileage on the report versus the odometer, so I suspect that a previous owner replaced the dash cluster for some reason. The odometer showed just over 140,000 when I bought it and is just under 150,000 now the Carfax showed over 200k so I’m not sure what happened there. Possibly an error, this jeep certainly doesn’t appear to have that many miles so I bought it anyway and its been a dream since :)
