Here’s another very sharp Grand Wagoneer we’ve acquired and, now that filming is done, is ready for bids from our great Ebay buyers. For the past two decades we’ve leased vehicles to television and movie production companies filming here in the Pacific Northwest. Last spring this rig (along with another ’87 GW we’ll be selling shortly) was used as a primary “prop” vehicle for location shooting on a film set here in Seattle. It’s anticipated the movie will be in theaters next year after film festival showings. You’ll see it driven on-screen by the actors and in static shots. I’ll provide a copy of the production parking permit issued by the Seattle film office after the Jeep is loaded-out and on the way to it’s next caretaker.
I’m often asked where we find these clean, unique vehicles. For the past 25 years a good friend has cruised parking lots of retirement homes, Elks clubs, our V.F.W. Hall and the small-town back streets of the rural Puget Sound region. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a door a mile away… He’ll notice when a nice old car or truck is driving with a turn signal left on just a little too long and he positively twitches with glee when a metal-bumpered vehicle passes by.
On a scouting trip to the southwest Washington town of Centralia, Buck came across the back end of this GW sticking out of an alley garage. It’d been in the retired owner’s possession for almost 30 years and, since he was no longer driving, it didn’t take much convincing for him to let go. The photos really tell the Jeep’s story. From them you’ll see the rig has been well-cared-for over the years. We’ve found absolutely NO evidence of any accidents, storm damage, insurance salvage, theft recovery, repossession or any other nasty negatives to cause you concern as the next caretaker!
I take pride in these vehicles and feel you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here’s a list of the good and any small things possibly needing attention: The four-wheel drive system works just as it should. With a flip of a switch the drivetrain goes to full 4×4 mode when needed, so most of the time you’re able to remain in 2WD, not wearing out the Dana front axle components during summertime highway use. The overall exterior is in very good condition. The rig wears factory light yellow paint, having been resprayed to its original solid color sometime in the past. There are no rock chips, clearcoat fading or major dents. I believe all the faux woodgrain vinyl trim and center inserts are original. Rust? Well, this classic Grand Wagoneer HATES rust and you’d be hard pressed to find anything here to worry about! Because we rarely get snow west of the Cascades, our winter roads are never salted. Climb over, under and throughout – I know you’ll come up smiling!
One turn of the key and the strong 360 CID V8 fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal. There’s a nice, throaty rumble to the exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, just like it should. Of course, there’s a tilt steering column, power steering and brakes as well as eight-way power bucket seats and windows. All four stock alloy wheels are wrapped with decent 235/75R15 radials, each with at least 75% – 80% remaining tread. These vintage SUV’s are really fun to drive and you’re guaranteed a “thumbs up” at every stoplight!
Please take another look at the interior pics. Most often when I come across these vintage rigs, the first thing we do is send them out for a new headliner as they’re often sagging or removed. This Grand Waggy arrived at my warehouse with the headliner looking factory-new as the photo shows. All the glass is great including the windshield; no cracks, no bulls-eye chips. About the only negatives we’ve encountered are: the electric mirror switch toggle is missing (but both mirrors are easily adjusted manually). As is typical on Grand Wagoneers, the power windows are pretty finicky and, along with the power seat switches, will need to be looked over. The tailgate glass can be hand-cranked open and closed. At the moment, the A/C doesn’t blow cold (not sure what that will require, other than a service and recharge). I doubt the six-digit odometer represents actual miles as this vehicle is thirty-five years old and long past the mandated reporting period. Some of the dash gauges and interior lighting work intermittently. That’s about it! If you’re thinking of bidding on a comparable Chevy Suburban or Ford Bronco of similar vintage, you really owe it to yourself to look this Grand Wagoneer over first! And, how often can you tell your kids their new Jeep is a movie star?

A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:
A $500 deposit (paid directly to Ebay) is due within 24 hours of the auction ending with full payment of the balance to us by cash (in person only) or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept credit or debit cards, but will first need to send you an invoice and will add the 3.25% fee our processor (SQUARE) charges us for any amount above the $500 deposit. Please remember you’re bidding to buy and I fully expect the winner to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later — You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.
Unless you live in the area, I’d suggest having the Jeep transported home. I ship vehicles regularly and am happy to help. In addition to quotes using the shipping tab here on the Ebay listing, I have access to the nationwide Central Dispatch site and can post the freight for an amount YOU want to pay to attract a transporter for delivery. WE usually have one lined up within days and you’ll pay them COD directly when the shipper delivers the SUV safely to your driveway.
I’m able to keep the Grand Wagoneer stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $50 per day. The vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. You will receive a clean Washington State title in our company name signed-off correctly. I can include a bill of sale as well if required in your state. All information described above is based on the observed condition when the listing was placed. I’ve done my very best to describe the Jeep and encourage bidders to contact me with questions.
