Rare Original 1978 Jeep Cherokee Chief Levi’s Edition
Up for sale is my 1978 Jeep. This is 100% Original!! True Barn Find. Purchased new by a doctor in Richland Washington and remained there until last year. Their dry climate explains why it is so solid. He was the only owner until 2020. Had been sitting for the last 14 years in storage. This one is Rare because this is the last year of the 401 CID engine, also is a Wide-Track, and Levi’s Edition Package. Has all the options. A/C, Cruise Control, Tilt Wheel, CB, 8track Player, Rear Defrost, Power Brakes, and Power Steering, and Factory Towing Package. The body is LASER STRAIGHT with the exception of a dent in lower driver rear quarter panel. The ONLY Rust is in REAR fender flares and driver rocker panel has a couple spots. The frame and the rest of the truck is 100% rust free and solid. The Rare 7M Golden Ginger paint is very shiny. Has lots of beautiful patina. The power back window works perfectly. The chrome and stainless are very nice. All glass is in excellent condition. The interior is very clean and complete. The Levi’s denim seats have some tears. Most all of the Levi’s interior buttons are there. Carpet is there but old. The 401 CID engine runs perfectly. No smoke, leaks, or noises. I rebuilt the carb, put new plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel pump, fuel lines, and changed the oil. Gauges work periodically. Speedo and amp gauge always work. Transmission shifts as it should. Original wheels are in good condition. Missing both front hub covers. Tires are 16 years old and are shot. The only modification to this Jeep is the QuadraTrack has been converted to MANUAL locking hubs in the front. I have all the original documentation from time of purchase. This is a great candidate for a restoration or a great driver with very little work. These 2 door Full Size Jeeps are getting harder to find, Especially one like this that are so Solid, Original, Low Miles, Documented, 1 Owner. Already registered in Jeep Archive Registry.
